Origin of SORES

SORES was created to provide the South Region with a structured platform capable of mobilizing local energies, organizing dialogue and strategic reflection, developing policy proposals, and supporting concrete initiatives on the ground.

SORES promotes a vision of a South Region that is modern and attractive, competitive and connected, inclusive and supportive, responsible and sustainable, and proud of its identity, culture, and heritage.

Our Region:
2025 Situation Analysis

The South Region is one of Cameroon’s ten regions, located at the gates of the Atlantic Ocean, along several international borders, at the heart of major forest ecosystems, and close to mineral deposits and vast agricultural basins. Its role is economic, geopolitical, and ecological.

Strengths

  • Deep-sea port of Kribi.
  • Significant agricultural potential (cocoa, oil palm, cassava, food crops).
  • Vast forest and mineral resources.
  • Presence of the University of Ebolowa.
  • Dynamic and youthful population.

Weaknesses

  • Persistent isolation of rural communities.
  • Unequal access to drinking water.
  • Insufficient local transformation of raw materials.
  • Limited digital penetration in rural areas.
